It is a pleasure to be here this evening to commemorate an important event – The Emerging Pacific Leaders Dialogue, EPLD 2010.

I am pleased to re-iterate my Government’s support to the EPLD initiative because it accords with our principles and policies.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the media. It’s good to have the opportunity to once again address you in our press conference today.

Today I want to talk to you about the current state of Solomon Islands economy and what measures the Government must take to ensure it continues to deliver services to the people.

Good evening to you all. It is a privilege and honor to be given this opportunity to address this important international meeting of Telecommunications stakeholders.
Distinguished guests and participants, on behalf of the people and Government of Solomon Islands I warmly welcome you all to Honiara.

Solomon Islands is honoured to be the venue for this very important 14th PITA AGM.

It’s a privilege indeed to be addressing what I would term as the “backbone” of the Telecommunications industry in the Pacific region and beyond.

Mr. Speaker Sir, I rise to move that at the adjournment of Parliament on Friday the 23rd April 2010, the present meeting shall be concluded and Parliament shall then stand adjourned sine die. This sine die motion however is special. It marks the dissolution of the present house. For some of us, this might be our last time to represent our people in this house. For others you may still be given a renewed mandate after the forthcoming national elections.

PM SPEECH ON THE LAUNCHING OF NCRA GOVERNMENT POLICY STATEMENT

I am very grateful to be here today for the launching of the Coalition for Reform and Advancement Government’s Policy Framework document. More than a month ago, I made the announcement that my government would finalize its policy statements within 30 days. I am glad that we have fulfilled this undertaking within the given time.

At the outset therefore, it gives me great pleasure to welcome and thank each and everyone of you for attending this important occasion.
